Are you monitoring your production or is your customer?
Production companies have already seen a lot lean production and just in time are only two of the familiar catchphrases. Such trends come and go. But one development continues to catch on and therefore has great effect on your production: production monitoring by your customer!
Corrugated cardboard packaging is increasingly put on the market directly.
If only 6 out of 100,000 boxes are unglued, it can happen that the end customer
returns the entire delivery to the producer!!! The trend to have to deliver
a 100 % product, which already started in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical
industries years ago, is now putting
manufacturers of corrugated cardboard packaging on the spot.
Very good flap gluing in the in-liner therefore is important but
also monitoring of the glue flap and the glue application. The most different
methods of monitoring are available e.g. moisture testing using microwave
technology or capacitive measuring methods with the disadvantage
that these have to be readjusted after almost every job
change and therefore do not record the most exact values. hhs Leimauftrags-Systeme
GmbH therefore developed optical monitoring.
The flap to be glued is recognised using the most modern camera technology with a capture width of up to 50mm. The technical options of the camera mean that machine speeds of up to 600m/min are no problem.
A touch screen is used to operate the system and offers an easy to understand user interface. All production-relevant inputs are made here. Fundamentally, only 2 values are required for gluing. If desired, up to 1000 production samples can be stored this means that production planning can manage every new job and the user only has to call it up.
Today's software technology makes it possible to provide the most varied
monitoring functions which increase your production safety as follows:
- Availability and position of up to 3 glue tracks
- Monitoring of the distance of the outer track to the flap edge (to avoid
inside gluing)
- Length check of the flap to be glued
- Faulty punching
- Machine-spoilt oblique track control
- Chip filter
- Tracking of faulty boxes including visual and acoustic signals (signal
lights and horn)
- Error signals can be interrupted with the option of marking faulty
boxes.
In addition, the following parameters are stored for special applications:
- Gluing of divided flaps
- Simultaneous gluing of drive and service side
- Individual gun control (narrow flaps with 2, wide with 3 glue tracks)
- Sensor adaptation even for e.g. printed flaps allows the most different
cardboard quality and printing.
These monitoring parameters can be supported by variable authorisations for instance a three level access scheme: Level 1: machine operator, Level 2: shift supervisor and Level 3: production manager etc.
The production protocols requested by many end customers can be transferred either via interface to a printer or a higher-level machine connection.
These innovative glue monitoring options allow you to show your customer how well your production worked. Well functioning monitoring elevates production to a new level for your customer and therefore for your company. You monitor your production before the customer does.
