Gluing corrugated cardboard box flaps with camera monitoring
The market leader in the gluing and monitoring of corrugated cardboard box flaps – Baumer hhs GmbH in Krefeld – has optimised the familiar system to a large extent. As a trendsetter in visual monitoring, Baumer hhs has got very much closer to its goal – the virtually 100 % monitoring of gluing or the products.
Two series of camera systems that make new methods of production monitoring and documentation possible are being shown for the first time at a German trade fair at the Fachpack (booth 2-324). The advantage of both systems is the full integration of gluing and monitoring. A single input by the operator is sufficient to allow the two systems to work in coordination with each other: gluing and monitoring.
Baumer hhs is showing the MLT-40 camera sensor and the Xcam live picture camera with PC technology. The 3-nozzle head has been modified in such a way that it can now be moved from one side of the machine to the other in less than a minute. The camera sensor can be exchanged just as quickly, so that it can be used immediately on the other side when gluing the outer flap. This approach additionally means a substantial financial saving, because only one head and one camera module need to be purchased. The blank guides are arranged such that both components on both sides are used.
The MLT-40 sensor enables the monitoring of gluing at the highest level. Are the glue lines where they were programmed to be? Has machine-related angled intake taken place? Is punching waste lying on the flap to be glued? The camera system with live picture and PC technology provides a live picture of the gluing and the flap in real time in addition to the advantages of the sensor. Even punching waste that is flying around is recognised.
The possibilities of PC technology give rise to entirely new approaches to monitoring and documentation.
The creation of PDF logs at the push of a button as well as the connection to higher-level interfaces characterise the current state of the art.
