Perfect Control
The Xtend² system for Gluing and Quality Assurance, widely used in folding carton production, has now been adopted for Speciality Folder Gluers (Multipoint Gluers). Baumer hhs introduced verification functions specially when the products consist of 2 or more parts (for example shelf ready products).
Due to the fact that the gluing area can not be visually checked by the operator, it is necessary to use glue detection for this kind of application.
When there is a need for instantaneous tack and still provide long lasting fibre tear adhesion, Baumer hhs equip such machines with both hot melt and cold glue application systems. The HP-500 hot melt application guns are used for the instant tack hot melt glue application and P-500 cold glue application guns for the final adhesion. The reason for this combination is to allow the time needed for the water in the cold glue to either disperse or evaporate to create the fibre tear bond.
A big advantage of the Xtend² control system is the (optional) possibility to drive the Baumer hhs Xmelt hot melt console temperature control directly from the same operator touch screen, which also handles the glue pattern control for the hot melt -and cold glue guns. This unique function significantly reduces machine set up times and allows the operator to set the hot melt parameters easily. The above mentioned (optional) glue detection will also be set by the Xtend² touch panel.
From 2 parts you can create robust corrugated box made of internal brown board with a nicely printed board on the outside. In any case the internal box has to match perfectly with the outside sheath board. The perfect placement of both parts before and after gluing is essential. This is another job for the above mentioned Xtend² control. The (optional) embedded Baumer hhs inlet verification checks the straight run for both boards at feeder end. This again is set from the Xtend² touch screen with clear graphics visualisation enabling the operator to set this with minimum set up time. This way products that fishtail, misalign or have damaged flaps can be automatically marked (optional spray marker for UV tracer) for manual ejection. Cartons of this huge size usually can not be automatically ejected. Baumer hhs systems are installed on new machines and can also be retrofitted to existing machines.
