When it comes to box gluing - inline on the FFG or offline with a speciality gluer - production stops or failures are annoying, expensive and time costly - causing operators to lose patience.
The upstroke and downstroke of a robust high pressure piston pump integrated in the glue feed unit creates regular glue pressure with only negligible pressure fluctuations. The electro-pneumatic motion controller guarantees maintenance-free and long-life function. Air and glue conducting parts are separated - this means that no glue can enter the pneumatic component even when the seal is closing.
A sieve in the suction pipe of the glue delivery system prevents the intake of coarse particles. A pneumatic material pressure regulator provides constant gluing even during changing production speeds.
Non-contact glue application is superior to the standard contact systems in regards to handling, wear and tear as well as precise application. This precise application is achieved by electrical valve technology. Its effective performance and quick switching process guarantee reproducible glue patterns at all speeds. A dot/line mode allows the precise glue application to the flap even at extremely slow speeds - and glue is applied to the first box immediately fo0llowing a machine stop. Gluing ceases during a machine stop - the unit remains inactive until the restart.
The three head system makes t possible to control he valves individually - this means that many glue tracks and gluing patterns can be adjusted. If two glue tracks are sufficient, the third is simply switched off. Studies have shown that this technology makes possible savings to the glue consumption of up to 20 per cent.
Non-contact glue application allows uninterrupted transfer to the product guide. This prevents slanting of the product. The massive product guide construction and the entire periphery equipment guarantee safe throughput even in the case of the highest mechanical stress.
The patented water bath for the valve unit represents the latest technology in the area of production safety. It guarantees immediate and unproblematic restart. The valves are "parked" in the water bath while in the off position. This protects them from drying up, gluing together and contamination. The valve head immediately resumes its position at the restart of the system and can glue precisely without the need or additional measures.
The new gluing monitoring system, based on the latest camera technology, not only displays a live image of the flaps to be glued, but alerts operators to defective lengths, undesired straps and machine-spoilt oblique intake. Modern monitoring even facilitates divided flaps. The existing error list display helps in bringing production monitoring to a new level.
In contrast to the standard gluing wheels or contact systems, this new
non-contact system offers clear production advantages. Stoppages and production
failures are becoming more significant to costs. The non-contact glue application
system, including product monitoring, represents a significant innovation.
